A group of Diaspora Roots and Routes travelers gathered under a broad tree in Kenya

Our story

Travel that feels
like belonging.

Diaspora Roots & Routes was created to help travelers meet Kenya with curiosity, cultural respect and a genuine sense of connection.

A note from the founder

“I want people to
fall for Kenya.”

For founder Olivia Ford, this work is personal: a way to share the culture, landscapes and generous spirit that have shaped her own sense of place.

The idea was never to create another tour that moves people from landmark to landmark. It was to make room for meaningful encounters—to pair the beauty guests imagine with the stories, rhythm and warmth they could only understand by being there.

The invitation

Feel closer.

Every journey brings Kenya's living culture and natural beauty into the same frame. Local partners and hosts are not an accessory to the experience—they are essential to its depth.

Guests arrive as curious travelers and often leave with friendships, a more textured understanding of the country and a desire to return.

What guides us

Hospitality
with intention.

01

Connection over consumption

We choose experiences that create real context and conversation, not only photographs.

02

Small by design

Intimate groups make it easier to stay flexible, move thoughtfully and know one another.

03

Local value

Kenyan hosts, guides and hospitality partners are central to how the journey is shaped.

04

Joy with respect

We celebrate fully while remaining considerate of the people, places and customs welcoming us.

“Come ready for Kenya. Leave with a deeper sense of the world—and your place within it.”
